Deer  have specific nutritional needs during different seasons. A whitetails environment can be harsh. From extreme winters to drought in the summer the nutrients available in nature can vary from more than enough to barely enough. Most hunters want to harvest the best animals available in their area and in most parts of the country nature does not provide the required nutrition for the animal to achieve that. Sure they may have enough to grow and live but to achieve MAXIMUM GENETIC POTENTIAL AT ANY GIVEN AGE it takes maximum nutrition.

  • FORMULATED FOR THE IDEAL 2:1 CALCIUM TO PHOSPHORUS RATIO OF 16% CAL AND 8% PHOSPHORUS AND 35% SALT
  • Proper amounts of vitamins A, D and E
  • Helps your deer reach their full genetic potential
  • Improved Disease resistance
  • Increases does milk production and nutrition
  • Faster stress recovery
  • Improved Herd Health
  • Healthier does have healthier fawns
  • Perfect for trail camera herd monitoring and buck inventory

There are some considerations that need to be taken when blending a deer mineral like consumption rates and mineral toxicity. Some like to think they are similar enough to cattle or goats or sheep that they can substitute one animals supplements for the other and nothing could be further from the truth. Take selenium for example. It's an important mineral but it's also a toxic mineral. So much so that the mill who blends our minerals has a special caged area for mixing sodium selenite and requires workers to wear special protective clothing that must be taken off before exiting the area. Given that selenium is available to the deer in natural vegetation and the toxicity associated with adding it we choose to leave it out of our mineral. There is a small threshold in just enough and too much. A deer mineral should NOT have more than 10 ppm and ideally it should have less than 5 ppm. There are other ingredients that may be at excessive levels for deer in a livestock mineral but Selenium is an important one.

This is not just another salt lick to attract deer with high amounts of sodium or salt. The salt/sodium is needed to attract the deer but in large quantities is bad for them. Despite popular belief DEER ARE NOT attracted to just minerals. Remove the salt/sodium and they will not return or even start using the site.

Max 360 Deer Mineral is a true deer mineral designed for deer instead of a re-branded goat or all purpose livestock mineral. Focusing on what both Bucks and Does need it has proper and balanced percentages of Calcium and Phosphorus, which are the two most important minerals for antler and bone development and lactating does, followed by an ample amount of other micro nutrients and Vitamins help with the absorption and utilization of the mineral.  Compare the ingredients and you will see that Max 360 Deer mineral is a high quality mineral designed to help keep your deer healthy during stressful seasons such as Lactating fawn, growing antlers and replenishing the minerals that a bucks body absorbs from it's bones during antler mineralization. Available in 50 pound bags or custom shipped sizes up to 35 pounds.

Tips and tricks:

  • Start or reapply minerals early spring to give your deer plenty of vitamins and minerals and help them overcome the stress from the rut and winter. Also to give them the nutrients the bucks and does need to handle the demands antler growth and pregnancy has on their bodies.
  • A deer mineral should be just that, there are differences between livestock and deer. Some minerals can reach toxic levels such as SELENIUM which should be less than 5ppm.
  • I find deer can be finicky about mineral sites from one location to the next, even on one piece of property. You may need to get some stock salt or plain water softener salt and start several sites to see which ones the deer will use then choose the ones with the most use and start adding mineral.
  • Heavier soils seem to do better than pure sand. If all you have is sandy soils you can try to find an old stump to use and preferably near a water source.
  • Two sites per one hundred acres is adequate but the lay out of the property is also a factor, it’s likely that 100 acres is really part of a much larger area so more is not a bad thing.

FACTORS FOR GROWING BIGGER BUCKS (listed in order of importance)

  1. AGE-5-6.5 yrs old is generally the peak age of a whitetail buck
  2. NUTRITION-without better than average nutrition a buck won’t genetically be his best at any age
  3. GENETICS-determines just how big he can be
